with treatment and support ,most individuals with depression can fully recover . eating a healthful diet and partaking in physical activity can make a significant difference to your recovery time , as well as improving a your general health .
many organizations offer support groups counseling ,and other resources that ,may help with depression .it is important that you try to participate in social activities to avoid becoming isolated .
depression is a low mood that lasts for long time ,affecting everyday life . it is often triggered by a mix of genetic , physiological and environmental factors; studies show that the risk of becoming depressed can be increased by life events such as poverty , death of loved ones , physical illness or abuse . for some the risk is also hereditary .

in younger children , symptoms of depression may include sadness , irritability , clinginess ,worry aches and pains , refusing to go to school ,or being underweight . in teens symptoms may include sadness , irritability , feeling negative and worthless anger , poor performance or poor attendance at school , feeling misunderstood and extremely sensitive , using recreational drugs and alcohol , eating or sleeping too much ,self harm ,loss of interest in normal activities , and avoidance in social interaction .

when to see a doctor - if you feel depressed , make an appoinment to see your doctor or mental health professional as soon as you can . if you 're reluctant to seek treatment , talk to friend or loved one .any health care professional , a faith leader or someone else you trust
